You can’t say you’ve experienced Paris if you haven’t gone off the beaten track, if you haven’t crossed the neighborhoods where Parisians live, or what we call here the second ring, or the arrondissements beyond 10.
Firstly, because you feel something else: a calmer, quieter atmosphere and traffic, people who are willing to help, and of course, beyond the city’s architectural charm, which still works, valuable information on how the city has evolved over the ages.
A choice of 3 durations, the content of which will be discussed over the phone, but here are a few indications.
You can choose between 3 types of Parisian tours in a 2CV
2h: West Tower, 16th arrondissement :
As we all know, the 16th arrondissement is not the heart of working-class Paris, but you can feel a specific, almost village-like, way of life in certain parts, while elsewhere you can discover sumptuous art nouveau, art deco and more recent buildings, as well as sumptuous Haussmann ensembles.
It’s a little-known part of the city, but well worth the detour.
2h: Le tour Rive Gauche
described here on the Left Bank page.
3h or 4h: The East/North-East walk
Here’s the real Paris of the locals, still just about affordable, who maintain a semblance of real Parisian life, cool, chatty, facetious, warm, funny – that’s also the atmosphere here.
A stop at the Aligre market, the Père Lachaise cemetery, Ménilmontant, Belleville park, Butte Bergeyre, Buttes Chaumont, Rue Muzzaiua and its pretty houses, the countryside in Paris…a coffee stop here or there, as you please, this walk will make you feel the beating heart of the city.
